India permits duty-free sugar imports for the first time in ten years

For the first time in a decade, India has authorized the duty-free import of raw sugar, capped at 10 lakh metric tonnes, through October 31. As the world's second-largest sugar producer, the nation is opening these imports exclusively to firms that possess their own refining facilities. The government stated that interested refiners and mills may submit their applications from August 21 to August 28.
