India kicks off 2028-29 UNSC bid with 'SHANTI' plan
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has officially started India's campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2028-29 term. He introduced a six-point manifesto titled 'SHANTI,' which centers on themes of integrity, trust, and peace. Jaishankar noted that India intends to advocate for the Global South, bolster international anti-terror initiatives, and advocate for structural reforms, all while maintaining its long-term goal of securing a permanent spot on the Council.
