India-funded bridge project in Maldives reaches key goal
The initial section of the Greater Malé Connectivity Project (GMCP), which includes a 2-km bridge connecting Malé to Vilimalé, has been finished. On August 30, Maldives President Muizzu took a walk across this newly completed part. This 6.74-km infrastructure project is being constructed by the Indian firm Afcons Infrastructure. It is supported by a $400 million credit line from the EXIM Bank along with a $100 million grant from India.
