India appoints first Safeguarding Officer for Asian Games to address abuse and neglect
In compliance with a new requirement from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Neetal Narang, President of the Softball Association of India, has been named as the nation's inaugural Safeguarding Officer for the Asian Games. In this role, she will act as the primary contact for athletes needing to report instances of neglect, abuse, or harassment throughout the competition. The 2026 Asian Games are scheduled to kick off on September 19 in Japan.
