How Gulf countries are working to avoid the Strait of Hormuz
Due to ongoing issues in the Strait of Hormuz, nations in the Gulf are seeking ways to rely less on this shipping route. The UAE is currently constructing a pipeline to circumvent the strait, and Iraq is developing a pipeline network connecting to Jordan, Syria, and Turkey that will have the capacity to move 2.5 million barrels of oil every day. Additionally, the UAE has plans to establish a new port located on the Arabian Sea side of the Strait of Hormuz.
