HDFC Bank is weighing an appeal to the NCLAT to challenge an NCLT decision that greenlit a debt repayment strategy for Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra. Under this proposal, creditors are set to receive ₹6.25 crore out of total admitted claims worth approximately ₹22,006.57 crore, which amounts to a 99.97% loss. The bank noted that its own claim represented 3.2% of the total, and it had formally objected to the settlement that other creditors chose to accept.
