Gyanesh Bharti repatriated to parent cadre before one-year term as Deputy Election Commissioner
IAS officer Gyanesh Bharti, a 1998-batch AGMUT cadre official, has been sent back to his parent cadre after serving as Deputy Election Commissioner at the ECI since August 25, 2025. He has now been named the Chief Secretary for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Although his term was originally set to conclude on June 18, 2028, he is leaving early. During his time as DEC, Bharti oversaw West Bengal for the 2026 Assembly elections.
