Gulf countries account for over 70% of Indian suicides abroad, says government

The Ministry of External Affairs reported that more than 70% of Indian citizens who took their own lives while abroad from 2023 to 2025 were residing in Gulf countries. The United Arab Emirates saw the most cases at 511, with Saudi Arabia following at 354, Kuwait at 162, Oman at 146, Bahrain at 101, and Qatar at 66. Currently, approximately 10 million Indians are employed in various industries across Gulf nations, including healthcare and construction.
