Rangatji Thakor, who works as both a teacher and football coach in the village of Mahadevpura, Gujarat, launched a local sports tournament that eventually blossomed into a community-wide football program. Since then, more than 100 girls have joined the sport, and over 52 of them have gone on to compete at the national level. The village field now serves as a vital hub where girls can hone their athletic abilities, stay in school, and work toward stopping the practice of child marriage.
