Grandson of ex-Ugandan leader Idi Amin disqualified from CWG boxing match for headbutting
Aziz Abdul, a Ugandan boxer and grandson of former dictator Idi Amin, faced disqualification during his men's 90kg+ quarter-final match against England's Damar Thomas at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. According to World Boxing, Abdul was ejected in the third round due to a headbutt, following two prior warnings for the same infraction. Historically, Idi Amin is remembered for his 1972 decree that forced approximately 80,000 Asians, primarily of Indian descent, to leave Uganda.
