Government reports one-third of AIIMS faculty positions are unfilled
The government has told Parliament that almost 33% of teaching positions at 20 AIIMS institutions are currently empty. Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav stated that for the 2026-27 period, 2,181 out of 6,304 approved faculty roles are unfilled. He further noted that more than 25% of non-teaching roles are also vacant, totaling 15,159 out of 59,225 sanctioned spots. Specifically, at the New Delhi AIIMS campus, 436 of the 1,313 approved faculty roles are currently unoccupied.
