Government dismisses claims of ₹1,160-crore ethanol-rice scam
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has rejected reports of a ₹1,160-crore scam involving the diversion of rice intended for ethanol production, labeling the claims as "completely baseless" and "factually incorrect." According to the FCI, the ongoing probe actually concerns the diversion of 490 bags, totaling 242.50 quintals, which are worth ₹5.63 lakh. The higher figure mentioned in reports represents the total value of rice sold by the FCI since the 2024-25 period.
