Google announces major AI leadership changes as Hassabis shifts roles and Dean departs
Google is restructuring its artificial intelligence division. Demis Hassabis is moving from his position as DeepMind CEO to serve as the lab's chair and Alphabet's chief scientist. Meanwhile, Koray Kavukcuoglu has been named CTO and will manage the daily operations at DeepMind. Additionally, long-time chief scientist Jeff Dean is stepping down after a 27-year tenure to start a new venture called Discovery Loop, which will receive financial support from Google.
