Global warming set to exceed 1.5°C limit, UN report warns

The UN Environment Programme reports that the world has missed its target to cap global warming at 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. This critical limit is expected to be surpassed in the coming years, leading to increased climate hazards. Even under the best-case projections, temperatures are expected to reach 1.8°C above pre-industrial averages, exceeding the goals established by the Paris Agreement.
