Germany has declared that Russia's consulate in Bonn will be shut down, holding Moscow responsible for an attempted drone strike at Leipzig/Halle airport last month. Reacting to the move, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Germany's Goethe-Institut cultural hubs in Russia would be shut down. Lavrov noted that these centres had stayed operational "despite all the Ukrainian complications in our relations with the West".
