Genetic analysis of 75,000 markers traces Tamil ancestry

Researchers at Madurai Kamaraj University examined more than 75,000 DNA markers extracted from ancient remains discovered at various archaeological locations in Tamil Nadu. The findings from Konthagai, Adichanallur, and Sivagalai indicate that these early inhabitants are genetically linked to populations in South India, Sri Lankan Tamils, and other South Asian groups. This research could offer new perspectives on historical migration patterns and the way of life during the Sangam era.
