Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari stated that the ₹7,000 crore 'Missing Link' project on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway was developed by the state government. He mentioned that whenever problems occurred, he faced criticism on social media, despite the Maharashtra government being the one that carried out the work. Gadkari asserted that he constructed the original Mumbai-Pune Expressway 27 years back, and it remains free of potholes to this day.
