Four Renaissance masterpieces stolen from Sicily museum over holiday
Over the Italian holiday weekend, burglars managed to take four paintings linked to Renaissance artist Antonello da Messina from a Sicilian museum. On Saturday night, the culprits successfully evaded advanced security and alarm measures to seize three of the five remaining panels belonging to the Polittico di San Gregorio altarpiece, which is considered one of the artist's most significant creations. The director of the museum called the theft a "tremendous loss."
