Former Delhi HC Chief Justice questions Umar Khalid's 7-year detention
Former Delhi High Court Chief Justice AP Shah has spoken out against the long-term imprisonment of Umar Khalid. He noted that while Khalid has been awaiting trial for seven years, individuals accused of murder are often released on bail. The comments followed a July 4 ruling where a Delhi court denied Khalid’s bail request for the third time. Khalid remains in custody under the UAPA in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots conspiracy case.
