Former Andhra Minister Karumuri Nageswara Rao held in liquor transport case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken former Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Karumuri Nageswara Rao into custody in Hyderabad. The arrest is part of a money-laundering investigation concerning a suspected liquor transportation scam. Authorities claim Rao interfered with the tender procedures of the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation and funneled the gains via subcontracts. According to the ED, Rao and his son pocketed ₹15 crore through a combination of bank transfers and cash payments.
