Five wild elephants from Nepal rescued in Bahraich, UP
Five wild elephants, which included two calves, were successfully rescued in the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh after being carried away by intense currents from Nepal. The animals were swept toward the Girjapuri Barrage when floodwaters surged into the Kaudiyala river. To assist the herd, authorities shut the barrage gates to reduce the speed of the water, which enabled the elephants to safely make their way into the forest.
