First images emerge as rare total solar eclipse occurs

Today marks the only total solar eclipse of 2026, casting shadows across sections of the Northern Hemisphere. The phenomenon is visible in its full form from regions including Iceland, Greenland, northern Russia, Spain, the Atlantic Ocean, and a tiny portion of Portugal. This eclipse will not be observable from India. The peak duration of totality reached approximately 2 minutes and 18 seconds.
