FIFA sets 53-day ultimatum for nations to approve commercial stake sale or risk 75% funding reduction
Gianni Infantino, the head of FIFA, has informed the 211 member associations that they have 53 days to approve a plan to sell between 20% and 30% of the organization's commercial rights to private equity firms. According to Infantino, countries that get behind the initiative could see individual payouts reach $40 million starting in 2027, whereas those who reject the move face a 75% cut to their funding. The proposal has already met with open opposition from UEFA.
