A group of seven partners, consisting of farmers and labourers, unearthed a 16.96-carat high-quality diamond at their leased mining site in Panna, Madhya Pradesh. The discovery occurred when one of the partners, Akhilesh Pal, noticed the stone glistening in the mud following recent rains. The diamond, estimated to be worth more than ₹50 lakh, is set to be sold at an upcoming auction. The group intends to use the proceeds from the sale to cover expenses for weddings, home construction, and their children's schooling.
