EU introduces €3 customs duty on small packages to limit Chinese goods
On Wednesday, the European Union implemented a €3 (₹324) customs fee on small packages, aiming to restrict the influx of inexpensive Chinese imports that previously entered the region without duties. Back in 2008, the EU had established a tax waiver for low-value imports valued up to €150 (₹16,203). By 2025, the volume of imports utilizing this exemption climbed to 5.8 billion. This new €3 levy is slated to remain in effect temporarily until 2028.
