A report by Triodos Bank suggests that intense heat and wildfires might result in a financial hit of approximately $208 billion (₹19.85 lakh crore) for the European Union by 2026. This figure represents nearly 1% of the EU's GDP and matches the economic growth projected for the current year. As the region endures its fifth heat wave, fires have broken out in nations including France, Britain, Greece, and Croatia, leading to the evacuation of thousands of residents.
