Dubai's DP World eyes new port to avoid Strait of Hormuz

According to a Financial Times report, Dubai-based DP World intends to circumvent the 170-km Strait of Hormuz by constructing a fresh port and terminal along the eastern coast of the UAE. These facilities are set to be located on the Musandam Peninsula, the distinct landform that constricts the strait. This development will enable shipping containers to be transported in and out of the UAE while completely avoiding the waterway.
