On Friday, the DMK turned down Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay's proposal to provide free cars to every MLA, pointing to the state's rising debt levels. Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin stated that because the TVK has frequently highlighted the government's debt, all 59 DMK legislators have chosen to decline the offer. Previously, DMK's Saravanan Annadurai had spoken out against the plan, arguing that taxpayer funds should not be used for luxury items.
