Delhi: Over 300 water bodies face extinction due to drying and encroachment
A status report from the Wetland Authority of Delhi (WAD) submitted to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) reveals that 196 out of 1,080 identified water bodies in the city have completely dried up, while another 135 have been encroached upon. This report was prepared following a directive from the NGT, which instructed all 16 land-owning agencies to submit comprehensive data regarding the water bodies located within their respective areas to the WAD.
