Delhi High Court scraps 'ZORA' trademark following Zara's plea
The Delhi High Court has revoked the trademark registration for 'ZORA,' which was being used by a fabric merchant in Sadar Bazar, following a legal challenge from the owner of the brand Zara. While the trader maintained that 'ZORA' is a Hindu term for 'dawn' and was chosen honestly, the court ruled that 'ZORA' and 'ZARA' are visually too alike. The bench noted that the minor difference of a single vowel would likely go unnoticed by individuals of average intelligence and imperfect memory.
