Delhi High Court questions Centre on Jantar Mantar protests
The Delhi High Court has raised questions regarding the government's choice to keep Jantar Mantar open for demonstrations. During the hearing, the court remarked, "Why don't you shut it down?…These things shouldn't happen in the city…Why should Delhi be put to ransom unnecessarily?" The bench was reviewing a petition that requested approval for 75 individuals to stage a protest at the site, calling for Dalit Christians to be included under the Scheduled Castes category.
