Delhi High Court grants freedom to murder convict after 20 years, citing Rig Veda and Oscar Wilde
The Delhi High Court has directed the immediate release of a man convicted of murder who had been incarcerated for more than two decades. The court determined that officials had consistently denied his requests for early release without conducting a proper or sincere review. In his ruling, Justice Girish Kathpalia opened with a verse from the Rig Veda. He further referenced a quote by Oscar Wilde, stating, "No saint is without a past...no sinner is without a future."
