Delhi CM Rekha Gupta: Gang-linked inmates to be moved to other states
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the administration intends to relocate undertrial prisoners who are involved in operating extortion rackets, orchestrating killings, and fueling gang conflicts to facilities in other states. According to the CM, this measure is aimed at stopping these individuals from interfering with witnesses or obstructing legal proceedings. Currently, existing regulations only permit the transfer of convicted inmates between states, so the government is looking to implement the Transfer of Prisoners (Punjab Amendment) Act, 2025 to facilitate these moves.
