Akhtar Merchant, said to be a former associate of underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim, has been apprehended at the Delhi airport following three years on the run. Authorities took him into custody immediately upon his return to India, as he was a wanted suspect in a 2023 shooting at a bakery located in Mira Road, Thane, Maharashtra. A Red Corner Notice had been posted against him by Interpol earlier this month.
