The legendary West Indies cricketer Sir Garry Sobers, who died on Friday at the age of 89, was once set to marry Indian film star Anju Mahendru. The two became acquainted while he was in India for a tour during the 1966-67 season. Mahendru later shared that she contacted Sobers from the residence of actor Rajesh Khanna to break off their engagement in 1967, following a reconciliation with Khanna.
