Congress criticizes use of NSA against Assam activist
Pranab Doley, an activist for land rights in Assam, has been charged under the National Security Act (NSA) shortly after a local court granted him bail for his protests against a hotel development in Kaziranga. Senior Congress figure Jairam Ramesh described the move as a clear abuse of laws meant for preventive detention. Ramesh further stated that invoking the NSA has become a recurring tactic used by BJP-led administrations to suppress opposing voices.
