Starting August 14, Anthropic is setting auto mode as the standard for Claude Code Pro, Max, and Team subscribers. Those who currently have a different default permission setting will see a single in-app alert and retain the ability to revert their preference by pressing Shift+Tab. When auto mode is active, Claude Code will execute tasks automatically, pausing for confirmation only if an action is considered destructive, irreversible, or happens outside the user's local environment.
