Chinese official's $8.4 million property purchase near White House raises spying fears
According to a DCNF report, Philip Qiu (Qiu Feili), an official with ties to the Chinese Communist Party, has acquired the Securities Building for $8.4 million (approximately ₹80.2 crore). The property sits just 650 feet away from the White House, sparking worries about potential surveillance, electronic data gathering, and other intelligence operations. Qiu previously worked as a detective.
