China's solar capacity surpasses coal for the first time
Solar power has officially surpassed coal in terms of total installed capacity across China. As of July, solar reached approximately 1,288 GW, edging out coal's roughly 1,285 GW. While this achievement underscores the massive scale of China's transition to renewable energy, coal continues to be the primary source for actual electricity generation. Moving forward, the nation faces the task of incorporating this surge in solar power by improving grid infrastructure, energy storage, and overall system adaptability.
