China's C919 jet completes maiden international flight, receives water salute
The C919, a passenger plane built by the state-run Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), took off for its first commercial flight abroad to Mongolia this Wednesday. Upon arrival, the aircraft was greeted with a traditional 'water salute.' This narrow-body jet is intended to challenge the long-standing market dominance of Boeing and Airbus. While the aircraft is domestically produced, it still relies on some components manufactured overseas.
