China invests $54 billion in major banks and insurers to stimulate lending
In its most significant recapitalisation effort in 20 years, China is pouring $54 billion (₹5.10 lakh crore) into its primary state-run banks and insurance companies. The Finance Ministry plans to release special bonds to provide capital to eight major financial entities, including the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, the Agricultural Bank of China, and PIC (Group) of China. This initiative is designed to encourage increased lending to both families and commercial enterprises.
