Centre to provide up to ₹650 crore per deep-sea well under 'Samudra Manthan' scheme

Under the 'Samudra Manthan' project, the government will cover as much as 50% of the expenses for drilling ultra-deepwater or deep-sea exploration wells, capped at ₹650 crore per well. According to officials speaking to PTI, the plan aims to facilitate the drilling of 60 wells across the coming five years. The government has officially cleared the project, which carries a total budget of ₹84,084 crore, with the goal of increasing the country's oil and gas output.
