Central government confirms no HRA for spouses if one has official housing
The Centre has reaffirmed that if both husband and wife are central government employees working at the same location, they cannot both receive House Rent Allowance (HRA) if one of them has been provided with government quarters. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary explained that since the family is considered to have a residence, they are not facing any rental costs. The government further stated that it has no plans to revise this existing policy.
