This event took place two days after Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge held a rally at the location. The complaint was lodged by Congress representative TR Ramappa, who argued that the act was motivated by caste-based prejudice, noting that Kharge is a member of the Scheduled Caste. The matter was also brought up by Kharge during a session in the Rajya Sabha.
