Cabinet greenlights ₹10,783-crore rail projects to expand network by 656 km
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the go-ahead for three railway multitracking initiatives spanning 14 districts across Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. These developments will extend the Indian Railways network by approximately 656 km. The initiative is set to enhance connectivity for nearly 4,790 villages and provide benefits to roughly 56 lakh residents. The total projected expenditure for these works is ₹10,783 crore.
