Authorities in Bihar have lifted all 36 gates of the Gandak Barrage located in Valmikinagar. This move was taken as a safety measure due to the surge in water discharge and the risk of more water flowing in from Nepal. By 12:00 PM, the discharge level had reached 86,000 cusecs and was continuing to climb, with water levels at Devghat in Nepal recorded at 4.77 metres. Officials noted that any increase in water levels there would likely arrive at the barrage in approximately 3.5 hours.
