Bihar minister justifies sugar price surge, claims people are cutting intake due to diabetes
While justifying the recent increase in sugar prices, minister Shravan Kumar remarked that individuals are already reducing their sugar consumption because of widespread diabetes. He questioned who consumes sweets nowadays, adding that he believes the price hike will not have a significant impact and that there is no cause for concern. In Bihar, the cost of sugar has climbed from the previous range of ₹48-50 per kilogram to more than ₹65 per kilogram.
