Bengaluru techie creates AI tool to spot potholes and hold contractors accountable

Gaurav Sen, an engineer based in Bengaluru, has developed an AI-driven application designed to identify potholes on Indian roads. The system utilizes data from dashcams, GPS, and accelerometers captured while the vehicle is in motion. It is capable of differentiating between speed breakers and actual potholes, while simultaneously recording their precise coordinates. Furthermore, the app cross-references these findings with approximately 2,900 government road contracts to determine exactly which contractor is accountable for the maintenance of those specific stretches.
