Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has granted the Design Organisation Approval for an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to Sarla Aviation, a startup headquartered in Bengaluru. This marks the third such approval in India. The company’s air taxi is designed to transport six passengers along with a pilot, powered by seven electric motors that manage both lift and forward movement. Minister Naidu noted that the government is targeting a 2028 launch for electric air taxi services in the country.
