An 85-year-old man from Bengaluru was paid approximately ₹28 lakh following the collapse of a 40-year-old sandalwood tree in his yard during a severe storm. After he notified the Forest Department, officials transported the tree to a state-run depot, where it was eventually sold to Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited. The company also honored his dedication to tree conservation by presenting him with the 'Sandalwood Shiromani' award.
